Terms of Use

Last updated October 19, 2026

These terms apply to Pack Planner (pack.beechwoldtrail.com), Camp Planner (camp.beechwoldtrail.com) and the beechwoldtrail.com website, run by Beechwold Trail ("we", "us"). We call the two apps "the apps" and all three together "the service". By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

The service

Pack Planner is a free tool for planning backpacking trips, and Camp Planner is a free tool for planning car and family camping trips. We may change, add or remove features, or stop offering either app. If we plan to shut one down, we'll try to give you notice in the app so you can download your data first.

Beta

The apps are in beta. During the beta, accounts are by invitation, and anyone can use the demos. Beta software may change often and may have more mistakes than a finished product, so keep your own copy of anything important.

Your account

Your data

What you enter (your gear, food, trips, campgrounds and notes) belongs to you. You give us permission to store it and show it back to you, only so the apps can work. We don't claim ownership of it and don't sell or share it. Our Privacy policy explains what we store and who can see it. You can download your data or delete your account at any time in Settings.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

Safety outdoors

The apps are planning aids. Weather forecasts, typical conditions, weights, calorie figures, campground details, gear suggestions, fuel amounts and missing-gear warnings come from outside sources or from what you entered, and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Don't rely on the apps for your safety. Check official forecasts, campground and land-agency rules and conditions before you go, carry what your trip actually requires, and use your own judgment. You are responsible for your own safety and decisions in the outdoors, and for the people in your care.

Outside services and data

The apps use data and services from others, including the U.S. National Weather Service and NOAA, Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0), Recreation.gov, MapTiler, OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap. Their content belongs to them and is shown with credit where required. We aren't responsible for their accuracy or availability.

Our content

The Beechwold Trail, Pack Planner and Camp Planner names, the apps' design, code and text, and the sample demo data are © 2026 Beechwold Trail. All rights reserved. You may use the apps for your own trip planning, but please don't copy or redistribute them.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that data will never be lost, so keep your own copy of anything important (Settings, in either app).

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Beechwold Trail will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from your use of the service or reliance on its information. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to fifty U.S. dollars ($50).

Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the service will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Ohio, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and tell you in the apps if a change is significant. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
